Thousands of Hmong face forced repatriation - 01 Mar 08

Uploaded by: AlJazeeraEnglish
Video Description:
The United Nations' refugee agency is concerned about Thailand's apparent forced repatriation of a group of about a dozen ethnic Hmong back to Laos.
Thousands have lived as refugees in Thailand for decades, claiming they would be persecuted if they were forced back across the border.
However, under a repatriation pact, the Thai government will send nearly 8,000 Hmong back to Laos.
International monitors have been barred from the country but the Laos government says the Hmong will be safe.
Hannah Belcher has our exclusive report.

This whole situation could have been avoided if, after Vietnam war all Hmong who worked with CIA. Where granted passports to America as payment for their services to US Military. Its only fair. Thats how my family got here during WWII, and they still do it today for Eastern Europeans and the Middle East.

Actually, some of the US CIA allies during this so-called Secret War during the Vietnam War in Laos were granted passports to America as a payment result for their loyalty and honorable services to the US military; however, only these group of people who never made it across the Mekong River either because they took the wrong route, fought in combat w/ enemy interference, having families left behind, drown swimming across the Mekong, trapped in the jungle, etc. They are still there fighting...

... the US war for survive, respect, and duty to honor. These people are brave and courage who many have escaped or retreated never look back to see their cries and pains. After 33 yrs, to be exact, when the war was supposed to be over, these group are still trying to make it across and when they do, too bad they made it across after 2000, the Thai refugee camp wouldn't accept them because Thai were persuaded by the Lao that these were illegal immigrant which these people never seen a day light.

... So to speak, is it fair for these lost group of people to get forced repatiation back to their so-called homeland, Laos, who they once thought they were fighting for the right side and their country they respect and honor, the Royal Lao Kingdom, as they were supported by the so-called allied the US CIA, who now turned blind eye and death ears on them? Let's wait a minute and rethink. I wonder what will happen to the Iragi after the retreat & pull out of the US forces. Is it going to repeat?

True True. But I ... ( 3 weeks ago by tjkrygiel01)
True True. But I should have elaberated. What I mean is they should have been treated as reguler military and taken out when everyone else was extracted. My grandfather who was Special Forces during the war is still bitter to this day. He saved many Hmong lives and many saved his ass countless times and he could do nothing for them when the war was over. He considered them his comrades just as anyone else, to him they are POWS who where left behind the same as the GIs.

It's great to know that good people still survived and remembered. I respect him highly. Since you know the bitterness of your grandfather, imagine yourself how bitterness these left behind so-called comrades or POWs feels. How about those who are now in the US fighting to voice a concern about these people but the US and UN are turning blind eyes and death ears to? How about General vang Pao's case? Is it a legit of truth or just another CIA game they want to play with people's mind?
... Is it a set up ... ( 3 weeks ago by voice0n)
... Is it a set up or not? Or if GVP did it because he loves his people and want to save them from their cries and pains caused by the aftermath of US loosing the war? GVP never gives up! Only the US who pulls out and backstabbed him at the end. How does the Hmong feels now? How about the other good old allies? What about Japan? How about China, the Hmong/Miao's motherland? Have we not yet open our eyes to see what's going on in Iraq? Is it repeating?

... tjkygiel01,
What you can do for your grandfather, is to help voice your expression, love, and concerns about these left over people who's still trapped in the jungle of Laos? You can help advocate and voice with the Hmong activists in your country, the US, when they needed it. You can help spread the word and not let the Secret War be a secret no more. Hmong are sick of tire for not being recognized and appreciated. Let's not loose the brave allies for the future to look us bad. Peace.

I can understand a host country saying, "We can't host you anymore." What I think is outrageous is for a host country to force people to return to the country & persecution from which they fled. I would have thought that WWII's infamous "Operation Keelhaul" would have shown the horror and folly of forced repatriation as a policy.
Hmong refugees, I wish you the best.

WoodbineRed,
Thanks for your support & wish for their best. Thanks for your understanding & concerns of those who's still trapped & forgotten behind. Let's not put it to the side but work on it. Let's not wish & pray for these people but act on it. Let your voice be heard. US need to clean up the mess they left behind & please don't turn blind eyes & death ears like before. A person who loves history would do anything to study about the past to help prevent it again for the future. Peace.
