In his Junior Season:
-Sanders rushed for 2,628 yards, an NCAA record.
-He had 3,249 total yards, an NCAA record.
-Sanders scored 39 TDs (37 rushing, 1 kick return, 1 punt return), an NCAA record.
-He averaged 7.6 yards per carry.
-He rushed for 300+ yards in four games.
This was all during an 11-game regular season and him many times sitting out for whole 4th quarters! Unreal.

Forget about LT, Alexander, Johnson...this man is legendary for a REASON. I am so tired of people trying to compare LT with Sanders...he's good, but I think Sanders could out-run LT in COLLEGE.

Look at that explosive speed...LT cannot compare. LT has a similiar running style but nowhere near as good and with ten times the talent around him.

Agreed. When you watch the footage, you see there's no comparison. That's why LaDainian fans will only talk about stats.
Being a Barry ... ( 11 months ago by TrueSephiros)
Being a Barry Sanders fan since...forever, I will admit this, L.T. is slightly more versatile because he was a better catcher then Sanders.
However if your just talking about Pure Running Back, I'm gonna break your ankles, Barry Sanders has absolutely NO EQUAL. The guy was legendary, he never had a PowerHouse Team like LT did, and to make 2k+ yds per year.
Barry Sanders>>>>
All other Running Backs, he was the Best.

I don't know how anyone can say that a back other than this one was the best. I can't think of any other player I've ever seen with a package that includes speed, quickness, moves, and a burst. That f'ing insane.
I am a running back ... ( 8 months ago by goblin072)
I am a running back fan as far back as Gale Sayers. Barrys skill was superhuman. I have never seen a back that could do what he did. His balance was unreal. I am still looking for the next Barry but so far no one is close.
Many people do not realize that Barry really did not care about records. I think he was so shy that he would rather not break a record so he would not have to speak in public.
The Best I have ever seen!

One more thing, I enjoy watching old NFL films on comcast. When I see Barry it still gives me a rush. The other backs look slow motion vs Barry. He was that much better than anyone else.

He's so humble as a football player. After every touchdown, he wouldn't celebrate. Instead, he gave the ball to the ref. every time. He retired because he didn't want to break Walter Payton's rushing record. Barry Sanders is the best role model and runningback ever in history.
he retired because ... ( 5 months ago by kibbleznblitz)
he retired because he wasnt having fun anymore. he felt the lions werent doing much in the 98 offseason to get better. sanders didnt want to move to another team because he felt that one nfl team is enough. he could have broken every record there is to be broken by a RB but that wasnt what he was about.

all prefrence man, i prefer a a back that will beet the shit out of you and will never quit, thats why payton is my fave. with that said sanders is a very and i meen very close second just on what you prefer
