New, original song written about Burke Centre, a 1,700-acre planned community in Northern Virginia which was begun in 1976. This is a home demo recording made by Carol Boyd Leon with photos she took of Burke Centre.
The first public performance of "Burke Centre, Always My Home" took place Sep 13, 2008 at the annual Burke Centre Festival. Burke-area Girl Scouts joined the composer in presenting it.
Burke Centre Conservancy is seeking a sponsor for a professional studio recording.
Carol Boyd Leon (ASCAP), who currently owns the copyright and composed the music and lyrics for "Burke Centre, Always My Home," has lived in Burke Centre since 1980. She composed George Mason University's alma mater, Patriots' Dreams," in 2001 and the theme song for Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia, "Brick by Brick, Wall by Wall," which will debut Oct 23, 2008.
Her "Virginia, Ever Enshrined" and "By George, It's Washington" have youtube videos and are available as downloads from her website. Also available is piano sheet music.
