nah because 'eight miles high' was a single by the byrds and the 'falling fast' refers to the next line 'and it landed foul on the grass' since one of the members was caught with marijuana. haha not to mention 8 miles in the air would be some 40 thousand feet... too high for regular passanger planes. but i can see where you could get that from
