It'd be interesting to find out how well Cyrus' kingdom, esp. in Babylon, operated after he instituted these reforms:
How strict were law and order? Or how did he deal with cultures/religions which posed a threat (in a very real way) to his social structure? Was free speech allowed, and how far could one take it? What was the economic situation then, and how did Babylon cope with having thousands of slaves now at loose ends?
It's good to see the reform, but also the effects afterwards.

Any culture or Relgion had freedom. Some countries were even willing to let Cyrus take control of the Country.
Cyrus did not enslave people, you were free to practise any religion.
The Unitd States constitution is based a little on the Cyrus Cylinder, the first documented piece of human rights.

Just got finished reading the book by Xenophon spoken of in this video. I found the book by accident while researching for a screen play and was blown away by the virtues of the Persians of that time ... funny how they got it right in 450BC and we just dont get it now?
I thought the book would make a great movie and am pleased to hear the Brits are making one ... look forward to seeing it.
