USC proceeds to shut out Auburn 23-0 behind first-year starter Matt Leinart, who's very first collegiate pass goes for a touchdown to Mike Williams. USC would go on to win a share of the 2003 National Championship.

This is what trips me out. Even though I have much respect for the SEC and think they are the top conference, I see that many SEC fans don't have respect for other regions of the country. USC kicked Auburns ass. And then they absolutely murdered Arkansas not once but twice. And still I hear from SEC fans that USC can't handle the SEC. USC is not Ohio State first of all. And so far, USC has not dodged any challenges. Hope they meet with the SEC Champion this year to see what really will happen.

Well in that case, Tennessee should have beaten Cal last year. And, by that measure, they should kill UCLA as well.
When you get right down to it the class of the SEC is LSU, Florida, Georgia, and maybe will be back Alabama this year. Besides those teams, every other team in the conference rides on their coat tails and gets undeserved respect.

Blaze...right back at you man! There is no indication that USC would have beat Auburn, thats the problem. We will never know. Both teams went undefeated in their respective conferences. To write Auburn off because USC destroyed Oklahoma and Auburn lost to USC the year before is just as dumb as Auburn fans saying we would win. Get it? And if I remember correctly, even though it was the first game of the year, USC had a very lucky break with VT too. That game was close as well.

What kills me is a lack of a playoff system that would settle alot of these "what ifs". As a Pac 10 guy I feel I speak for most us that the Rose Bowl shouldn't be tied to the Big 10 so heavily. Also most fans in Cali took polls indicating a desire for a playoff. Sure the Rose Bowl would lose a little status in exchange for a whole lot more money. The major 6 or 8 bowls and make them playoff sites. People will travel to see their teams. The top 4 bowls could rotate NC sites each year.

pk, you need to watch this video again. Notice you don't see Reggie Bush, Lendale White, Steve Smith, or Dwane Jarret. USC beat Auburn in Auburn without the use of these great players the year before. What makes you think that Auburn would even stand a chance when USC's team was way stronger that year?

I'll give USC the nod against us in 2004-2005, but LSU would compete, if not beat USC in the other 4 years. Get your head out of your ass. Ask yourself these questions: Why doesn't USC schedule LSU? Why is LSU the stumbling block in this matter? How do you know USC isn't dodging LSU? Run along.

I don't no why don't you call them and ask them. Listen they beat Aurburn, they beat the Razorbacks of Ark. Its not like they don't play anyone from your stupid conference anyway. The point is when they had bush, leinhart and jarett and even John david Booty they beat The SEC down.
