Seriously, does it hurt for CBS to go back to their old mike flags. I hate the "NFL on CBS" mike flag. Besides, it doesn't match the announcers' blazers.
I wish Greg Gumbel would be paired with Terry Bradshaw in games. They can work games on the NFL Network.

If Al Michaels had a proper sendoff on Super Bowl Sunday 2006:
Chris Berman: "Grey's Anatomy is next. The Pittsburgh Steelers are world champions for the first time since 1979. Now lets go to Al and John."
Al: "Chris, thanks very much. John, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Jerome Bettis have a Super Bowl."
John: "Yeah. This is what its all about. It's the greatest feeling in the world and you're champions. They can never take it away"

They can take the coverage away and we don't have football at ABC anymore but we have the memories. I've been through this with Pat and now I'm going through this with you and I wanna thank you Al for 4 great years working Monday Nights. It's been a pleasure."
Al: "Thank you John for making Monday Nights an event again and I'm going to miss saying welcome to Monday Night Football, stay tuned for your late local news and nightline after that."

I'm going to miss being part of this american institution know as Monday Night Football on ABC. I've been at ABC Sports since 1976 working backup baseball games and I've come a long way since. So has Monday Night Football. It has been 36 years, I've been a part of it for 20 of those years. Some good things have to end and this is one of them. Great working with you John."
John: "Great working with you Al" (Shakes hands)
Al: "Chris back to you"
Chris: "All right ... ( 2 months ago by rjpsuh06)

Well let's see....CBS lost the NFL in 1993, They got it back in 1998. NBC lost the NFL the same year, They got it back in 2006. ABC lost the NFL in 2005, and when they'll get it back is anyone's guess.
CBS should have ... ( 1 month ago by RCmack)
CBS should have Greg Gumbel as their #1 announcer again.
I liked him with Phil Simms as an analyst and Armen Keteyian as a sideline reporter. That was a great broadcast team and then CBS had to break it up, which was stupid.
Jim Nantz sucks as CBS' #1 announcer. Greg Gumbel was better as CBS' top announcer.

In a way its good that cbs lost the contract because fox invented the permanent scoreboard on the screen at all times in 38 yrs nbc cbs and abc espn couldnt come up with such an idea

A great big NO! Terry Bradshaw should stay as far away from football as possible. I don't know what his problem is; he's just too goofy. And Gumbel can stay at CBS. He does too much for him to leave.

The full-time scoring bug is fine but they should go back to the one from 2002-2005 because it was small but told you everything you needed to know.

Sorry but Pat Summerall did not get hired by CBS until 1965. He was an NFL player from 1952-61.

The NBC top commentating team from 1994-97 was Dick Enberg, Phil Simms, and Paul McGuire.

I agree. However Nantz's ego got in the way as he 'was tired of being a NFL Today pregame host' and demanded to be the #1 play-play guy. That why the switch i believe prior to the 2004 season. Nantz should have stayed as a studio host.
The Baby Brother of Byrant was excellent unlike his older brother.
Nantz's best sport as 'play-play' by far is Golf. I give Jim his props as he one of the best golf broadcasters of all time (along with Jim McKay)but as an NFL Announcer he so-so at best.
I agree. In ... ( 4 weeks ago by USAGiant)
I agree. In addition the 'scoring bug/scoreboard' now features 'in game commericals' too which i am not a fan of.
I know they have had 'commerical logos' for televised soccer matches for years but they go a half (90 minute w/ no commericals so i understand.)
Slightly off topic but is there anyone out there like me who hates the 'bug/logo' of the network televising the NFL or almost any sport now that continous?
Before it was small. The worst with this now are ESPN/ABC, TNT/TBS & Fox.
I have a bunch of ... ( 4 weeks ago by RCmack)
I have a bunch of old NFL football game tapes from 1998-2003 when Gumbel was CBS' top play by play announcer. I cherish them; Gumbel's far better than Nantz
Gumbel did a great job calling the 2001 Super Bowl. During that game, Armen Keteyian hustled into the Ravens locker room when Trent Dilfer was injured. That was classic
sports journalism; Keteyian running to get the latest scoop on Dilfer's injury.
Nantz's ego shouldn't have gotten in the way. He's lucky he still has a job at CBS
Joe Starkey's a ... ( 4 weeks ago by RCmack)
Joe Starkey's a great announcer; CBS should hire him to be the #1 play by play football guy instead of Nantz.
Only problem is, 49ers fans would be bummed that he would no longer be calling 49er games.
Does Starkey also do California Golden Bear games?
Starkey should be ... ( 4 weeks ago by USAGiant)
Starkey should be on a 'national broadcast' team ie Fox or CBS.
Another Local/Regional Play Play announcer that should be on a network NFL team is NY Giants radio announcer Bob Papa.
Summerall was the ... ( 4 weeks ago by USAGiant)
Summerall was the sports anchor for the local NYC CBS-TV & radio affliate right after his playing days with the NY football Giants.
Then he joined CBS in 1965-66 season.

Oh I think other networks thought of it until engineers warned of image burn-in and other TV damage. Even 15 years after FoxBox's debut, the problem still exists--not just with old CRTs but new LCDs and Plasmas! Look for the Youtube video "KTVU News Logo Burns Plasma" and related videos. The manual for my then brand-new 1999 32" RCA TV specifically warned not to watch stations with static graphics for long periods of time. I like sports, so that was impossible. The tube blew up in just 4 years.
