Leapers 3-9x50 scope review

Uploaded by: grannman
Video Description:
A look at Leapers 3-9x50 5th gen scope - one inch tube, true strength platform with zero locking. Includes view through the scope.
For a range report and accuracy test on a remington 597 .22lr at 50 & 100 meters see http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=237101
My original Leapers 3-9x50 scope had problems with the elevation adjustment turret, eventually breaking inside and causing a couple of rings to fall into the scope tube and rattle down to the objective lense. See the picture below -

The scope in the video is the replacement scope. I have since transferred it to my semi-automatic .22lr remington 597 where I have landed 4 shots in under half and inch at 50 meters with another 3 shots opening up the grouping to just under one inch. See image http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii191/Grantman_album/597grouping.jpg
To see the scope mounted, with a night setup added, check out my video: http://nz.youtube.com/watch?v=PGNAvTKC5wk

Hard to remember, I'd say within 15 clicks for windage and elevation each, although I'm not sure.

i got a Leapers Accushot 1-Pc Mount w/1" Rings, 3/8" Dovetail mount. will that work on my gamo big cat? cuz a 3/8 dovetail is the same as 11mm rite?
3/8" = 9.5mm but ... ( 1 month ago by grannman)
3/8" = 9.5mm but leapers mounts aren't designed to fit a single width of dovetail and I don't know where you found that 3/8" specification, they are designed to compensate for a variety of widths and should absolutely fit on the 11mm dovetail on the big cat. My shadow 1000 has an 11mm dovetail and I found the "Airgun/.22 Full Length Integral High Profile Mount RGPM2PA-25H4", as seen on the Leapers website, fits it well.

i saw the mount on the pyramidair website. but when i went on the leapers website i couldnt find anywere were it said "add to cart". can u buy stuff on leapers website?
No you can't buy ... ( 1 month ago by grannman)
No you can't buy things off the leapers website, it's just their product list. I think I found the mount you were looking at on pyramidair item#:RGPM2PA-25M4? That mount says 3/8" and will also fit an 11mm dovetail. Ideally you want a high profile mount listed on pyramidair as Item#:RGPM2PA-25H4.
the one i see is ... ( 1 month ago by bamf64)
the one i see is RGPM-25H4 exactly. will that work? cuz im ordering it in like 10 mins.
That's the mount ... ( 1 month ago by grannman)
That's the mount you want. It clearly says in the title it's for a 11mm dovetail so I don't know what the issue is.

my point is that do i want 30mm rings or 1" rings for the scope that is 25mm i think
You want the 1" ... ( 1 month ago by grannman)
You want the 1" rings for your 1" inch scope tube. 25mm = .98" so basically 1". You don't want 30mm rings unless your scope clearly says it has a 30mm scope tube.
ok thank you. and ... ( 1 month ago by bamf64)
ok thank you. and do you think the scope will hit the barrel if the rings arent tall enough? or is "high" gona b fine?
High is going to be ... ( 1 month ago by grannman)
High is going to be fine. The high mount is designed for scopes with an objective lense up to 56mm.

Hi again dude...baught a bushnel scope for my gamo shadowmatic..kindly give me ur opinion regarding this and pls letme know for what scope should i got for my viper max. I'm happy with my Bushnel on shadowmatic but pls letme know if there is any other option as d bushnel was a bit too expensive. Cheers bud!
They say you never ... ( 3 weeks ago by grannman)
They say you never end up regretting buying quality so the Bushnell should last. For the viper max if you want to spend less there are a number of options, BSA have made cheap air gun rated scopes for a while, Centerpoint and Leapers both make low cost scopes. The Bushnell banner series is actually also fairly cheap. If you want something cheap and solid I'd probably go for something like a leapers fixed 6x magnification 'bugbuster'.

No. You have to buy the rings seperate. In my mounting-the-scope video I've listed the Leapers rings I used.
