| As the can was gradually heated, it expanded slowly and symmetrically. When the can was put in the water, the temperature of the walls fell MUCH faster than it was raised. |

| Not eaxactly, we just perfomed this lab at school. It implodes becasue the little bit of water in the can was heated and steam was created. The steam pushed the air out. When the can was dipped into the water, the steam cooled, reverting back to its previous state, water. Since there was nothing to fill in the space the steam left behind, it imploded. This applies to Charles' Law. |
