THe Steeelrs and Colts have played two of the most dramatic post season games in history, this one and the divisonal game in '05.

wrong, that rule was put in place because of emmit smith always taking his helmet off after every damn TD to show his overrated face.
T.O. did not even take his helmet off during that incident.

It was actually put in place during that TO incident to get everybody on the same page as the new taunting rule during the 2000 season

This game, more then any other examplifies that Heinz Field may be more unique, it can never touch the atomsphere of Three Rivers. Still one of my favorites ever.

Heinz Field is an f'in dump! They should have paid 50-100 million or so and totally refurbished Three Rivers, putting in more suites, and just prepping it for another 30 years of magic. Stupidest move in our teams' history!

respectfully disagree. there is no atmosphere in that stadium, sound goes straight out of the endzone and out of the stadium. what's so special about that?! three rivers was INTIMIDATING to visiting teams. heinz field is not intimidating in the least bit!

Notice how much actual commentating the analysts do -- nowadays it seems like between every play they're not talking about the game, they're talking about upcoming shows on the station [or my favorite, all the sponsored segments - "let's look at our Pontiac scoring summary..."].

i love when odonell blows kisses to the fans it was so good to see the steelers finally get to a super bowl (i was only 7 when they won their last) sadly we had to wait 15 more years to see all of our hard work pay off...all the suffering thru the championship losses only to finally win makes u appreciate super bowl 40 that much more.
The amazing thing ... ( 2 months ago by sglider)
The amazing thing about this video is how different the plays would be today. That amazing play by Mills would be wiped out because today the league wants a WR to practically eat and digest the ball for it to be a completed catch. I forgot how that ball came out when Mill's hits down. Bam's TD run would have been challenged and the refs would spend 20 minutes trying to figure out what to call. And McAfee would have been penalized after that kickoff tackle for taking his helmet off.

This really shows how much the NFL is the No Fun League, especially when McAfee makes that huge play and takes off his helmet, that would be an instant penalty nowadays.

I will always remember big John Jackson's reaction to that TD (#65 at the 3:50 mark of this video). That summed it up so perfectly - that ENTIRE season was all about getting back to that point and putting right what went wrong the year before.

I guess because the Steelers organization felt that the Super Bowl loss was O'Donnell's fault (he threw a rare interception on the last play). That's what I would think because in the 1996 offseason he was signed by the lowly Jets as a free agent because they had just cut Boomer Esiason.

How close were the Colts to making the Super Bowl? The phantom touchdown, Coryatt blowing this catch, Bailey just having to put his hands up to his chest to hold onto that Hail Mary... good god, if we hadn't won XLI I'd be crying right now.
