It seems to me there are two ways to sing croon/swing. You can do it in a soft, smooth way and Buble has one of the greatest ever voices for that.
Or, you can sing swing with an edge to your voice as per Sinatra, Martin, Davis etc who sing with a bit of drive. In that respect Tim Beveridge (Kiwi not on Youtube, but big in Vegas) is a much better contemporary crooner than Buble.
It all depends on how you like your swing. :)
