ok mate calm down. i live in london and seeing as im going to harrogate in 7 days i think its a bit late. take it from someone who passed selection and has finished the process, you will be told a lot of different things by different people. officers have less of a clue than soldiers. all the best mate, hope it goes well

what is it like at the collage because i am hopeing to join when i finish school so if any could give us a breif description of what you do there and the routine and if you could tell me how tough it is that would be great thanks in advance. :)

polska999 has a point, you all join the AFC as bare recruits, you get your strips as and when they think you have potential to become lance corp, when you join your reg after the 42 weeks those stripes are taken away, basically they only account when at AFC. there is no fast track promo.

read some of the items below you will see all info you need. All the advise i can give is take every day as it comes, there will be plenty who drop out for what ever reason, some decide its not for them. You eat together and shit together, its a new family life for you. Get through the first 6 weeks and youve made it.
Im in Germany at the mo preparing for my tour.

you are correct polska, enjoy yourself in Harrogate, dont forget your ironing board, they cost a fortune at the college, there is a Spar shop on camp where you can get what you forget. take every day as it comes. choose 2 good sports selections i chose boxing and golf, but i was unlucky with golf and got hovercrafting!. Rugby team went to Aussie when i was there, skiers went to Austria. so get the good sports in.

im with 16 reg royal artillery, yes you need an ironing board, you can buy at college but they are more expensive than you can buy. There is every sport you can think of even down to tiddly winks. Do you start this sunday (7th sept) Did you get a list of items you will need. I took my ps2, X-box, portable tv. Get yourself a good quality iron, do not buy a cheap one, get things that will make your life easier. Just enjoy yourself, you will cry, but take every day on and dont be a clever shit!

just take essentials for the first 6 weeks, then you can take your ps2 etc, not for the first 6 weeks though, sorry should have said that. you wont have time to mess about, first week admin and pay, then the fun starts!!

everyone wears the same things, so if you go swimming with 40 lads, and 39 are wearing speedo's you will be too. dont worry bout it, youll have a laugh about the size of dicks in them, its all team building. if you are not going to like that, wait until you all have to shit into a hole in the woods, and carry your shit with you. youre in the army now not boy scouts. after the shit they put you through you will not care anymore!! get some running in now before sunday, run about 5 miles if you can

at the end of the day its only training, sorting out who is fit for the army. would you want someone covering your arse who is not switched on, or a lad who knows what he's doing. its all for your own good, just trying to break your spirit and build you up again to army life. the ones who break are not for army life. think about it, do you want to work in a factory 9 to 5 or see the world and have fun, but dont forget the bad bits. enjoy Harrogate, hope you get Peninsula Co.
