| Of course a drummer can only be best judged by how they play to the style of music they play too. That being said we have to get real about what the truly great drummers play to. Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson, Cobham, Caliuta, Gadd, Weckl, Tony Williams, Lenny White, Weckl, Royster, Chambers, etc all play to Jazz related music. It's harder and more complex to play to so this is not a coincidence. Metal is basically 4 4 time plus fill-ins. Even the best metal drummers would get smoked by Tony. |
