Only one game has ever had a death that topped these, imo. That was Mace: the dark ages when Lord Deimos impales the opponent with a flaming sword through the spine. Not the death, but how it's done. However, the rest of the deaths in Mace sucked.
I'd prefer EC due to all the best deaths in gaming being seen.

Not enough game developers even try. I remember hearing a developer making a big deal out of making a game where someone is beaten to death with a book. I saw it and it was all blah. I could think up with better using feathers.

I think I'd piss blood in enjoyment if there was an EC game for the next gen. We all can only hope.
As for feathers, many thoughts come to my mind. Such as shoving them into vital nerve points and watching as the enemy spasms violently.

i could never get enough of that...forget about gibs and small pieces of body like in MK. This is probably the only 2d fighter I know of in existence that got this visceral. My gf saw the overkill in the mind where the log impales the opponent and she threw up...LITERALLY.
If this game were to be next gen, they would have to do some sort of articulate corpse modelling...
