Fender electric guitars are great, however, Fender was never been strong in the acoustic department, although Buck Owens, Bill Anderson, and Johnny Cash played Fender acoustics in the 1960's. However, Fender does own Guild Guitars now.

This was my favorite song when I was a little girl. I would play the 45 on my record player over and over again. I still love the song!

These duo were excellent on their own but performing together were simply amazing....one of the best in country music. We miss you,Buck and Don.

I have read exactly what HarveyandRhonda stated and believe it. In the 60's you paid everybody on the record so they didn't bring in other band members unless somebody paid them. (Remember Unions?)Buck and Don loved each other like brothers so he was on some but not all.BTW Fender acoustics weren't that bad Gibson made and still makes duds sometimes.I think it strange we don't see more old Martins- they have always been great,IMHO---GREAT POST I LOVE IT
Bigskydaddy- this ... ( 3 weeks ago by bobmon54)
Bigskydaddy- this is 40+ years old. There was Harry Conte orchestra, themes to movies, the Beach Boys,Early Beatles,a little Chuck Berry and a lot of REALLY mindless pop. Everybody should be looked at in perspective and I'm not sure what yours is,but as My Dad said" If you're so SMART whay ain't YOU RICH?" I doubt you are- so keep smiling and try not to complain so much about things you don't understand.
Whats to understand ... ( 3 weeks ago by bigskydaddy)
Whats to understand about Bucks music? Its not exactly Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. I stand by my comments about Bucks music, very simple songs that anyone with a little experience on an instrument can write, three chords and a 20 second Tele solo(Don Rich was a fine player). Because it is popular doesnt make it good and many rich people are not very bright, just lucky. I heard this when it came out, and my opinion and perspective havent changed in 40 years. This music epitomizes mindless.
Yeah, I dont think ... ( 3 weeks ago by bigskydaddy)
Yeah, I dont think this is very high quality music, It doesnt mean you cant listen to it, and enjoy it. Buck was a nice man, and this is the real honky tonk stuff, but it isnt a great piece of work even in its own time. Its grind it out for a new single every 60 days kind of work.
Don Rich was a very ... ( 3 weeks ago by bigskydaddy)
Don Rich was a very fine player, but Brad Paisley is head and shoulders better as a guitar player, and he can hold his own as a player with all the greats from any kind of music.
I bet if you asked ... ( 3 weeks ago by lerb21)
I bet if you asked Brad who was better, Him or Don, he'd say Don. Don and Buck are two of Brad's biggest heroes. Plus at the time this video was filmed, Don had been playing guitar for only 3 or 4 years, while Brad's been playing since he could walk. It's like comparing apples and oranges.

Well, Buck is in the Country Music Hall of Fame, and in 2003 was ranked #12 on CMT's list of the 40 Greatest Men of Country Music. Of course, you're entitled to your opinion, bigskydaddy, no matter how wrong it is.

"very simple songs that anyone with a little experience on an instrument can write, three chords and a 20 second Tele solo"
You just described 95% of the most popular tunes from that era. Theres no "good" or "bad" music, just what people like.

I tend to look at it a little differently, as a lot of people like a lot of bad music in any/every era.

I suppose you're the expert on what music is good and what is bad. I guess the people of planet earth should consult you, instead of deciding for themselves. Who needs critics, and personal taste? Just ask bigskydaddy, he'll tell you if an artist is worthy.
Most country music ... ( 2 weeks ago by AirandSun80)
Most country music isn't complex, which doesn't mean it can't be great. Songs are also about lyrics and vocal performances. Hank Williams Sr. was great more for his lyrics and singing than his musical complexity.
buck's simplicity ... ( 1 week ago by 65telecaster)
buck's simplicity as some here have called it,allowed him an average of THREE number one hits a year for six years running during the sixties.if it was so simple, how come noone has done it today?he was SIMPLY the biggest innovator in his era hands down.list some of your own accomplishments and maybe we will take time to listen.

Buck was more than ... ( 1 week ago by CrazyCoach)
Buck was more than 3 chords and a 20 second solo on a Tele. He invented a country genre known as the California sound that artists today copy or try to replicate. He didn't record in Nashville, he recorded in Hollywood, and he and Dangerous Don Rich tuned their guitars down half a step to achieve that sound.
Besides, as Keith Richards said, "There's only ever been one original song. Adam wrote it and everything else is just a variation!"
Brad Paisley is a Don Rich copy.
what people need to ... ( 7 hours ago by 65telecaster)
what people need to remember is that the singles put out were just a short two or three minute look at what you would get from a LIVE performance.the live versions of these songs were longer and more energetic, played to roudy honky-tonk crowds who were fortunate enough to have witnessed real country music history in the making.if you don't realize that, then YOU are irrellivent.
