Same here. I listened to alot of the more "hardcore" stuff when i was a teenager( nwa, eazy e, cypress hill, mc eiht, ice cube) but it all started with the fat boys, run dmc, and whodini for me.

Bro, The Fat Boys cannot really be placed in the same league as NWA,Cube,Cypress,etc. they were actually looked upon as jokes. But....this is one of my favorite songs(raps) of all time. We used to jam to this in the locker room before UCLA games, where I played.

No, this is NOT real hip-hop. The Fat Boys were real BEFORE this ..BEFORE the movies. The white mainstream can only see the "gimmick", they could care less about the talent (like w/ Kris Kross, all they saw were backwards pants, when they really were talented kids) ..You need to check out some ORIGINAL Fat Boys (Disco 3) from the early 80s, like "Stick 'em", which is used in a commercials today. The Fat Boys played themselves by allowing themselves to become a joke/gimmick for the mainstream

He's telling the truth. The Fat Boys went down after this, being a mainstream gimmick, making songs with the Beach Boys when they didn't need mainstream approval (being fat clowns, only known for their weight). They made overweight people look bad, when they were some really tight emcees in the early 80s. You guys loved this, but those of us in the hood HATED it!

Initially, they were respected as emcees, before they did this mess. The ones who like this s.hit were either kids, or from the 'burbs, and didn't know the ORIGINAL Disco 3 - Check out "Stick 'Em". And people say, "Oh, what's wrong w/ a positive song?" But they were NEVER negative in the first place! There's a difference between making a song that's fun and a fun that's just silly.
