I guess Donovan got tired of people saying he sounded like Bob Dylan. This version sounds nice!

Oh WOW. I thought I liked this song *before,* but this is stunning. Does anyone know if this version is available as an audio track? Thank you so much for posting this.

Very nice song but Donovan was basically an attempt to make a few quid by pop music producer Mickie Most as a British Dylan. I'm reading his autobiography now and he ain't Dylan or Lennon, let's put it that way. No harm to him, he wrote some great pop songs and was a very talented musician but it's really skin deep hippyism.

Well, fine. You're reading a book. That's all well and good, but no need to get all pedantic and authoritative.
'Let's face it'? Why should we?
Look, 'skin deep hippyism' (I'm sure you lifted that one directly from the book...) If it's true then it just reflects the way things were in the 60's. There were a small number of 'real' hippies who lived the life, and the rest of them were just along for the ride, the music, the clothes, the scene. So?

It was my own phrase, it's an autobiography. The thing is Donavan was incredibly famous, almost up there with the Beatles at one point but he's almost been forgotten.
Actually I take it back a bit, he was very serious about hippyism but constantly positive, happy and a bit lightweight.

This is a good song, but it has nothing on Like a Rolling Stone.
