you know Cm Db Em Cm+C major Db=D flat ..etc...get it the key is the key you play in. How many fats on the clef... my bad.

5 positions labelled 1a, 1b, 2,3 and 4
1 = string 5, root 2
1a = string 6 fret 1 finger 1
2 = string 6 finger 2
3= string 5 finger 4
4= String 6 finger 4

Thats the way i learned Position one...
- is the root, Numbers on the Side are the frets, and the Numbers of the Scale are your fingers the 3 on the 5th fret at the end is to get u ready to slide to the Second Position
