the director and Aamir both have stated the idea was taken from memento, and I've seen memento and tamil Ghajini and the story is indeed different. they haven't denied the inspiration and openly admitted so, it's not plaigrism. do you go around buying rights every time u take info from a website for you essay? it's considered legal if u give credit.

I personally have immense respect for their undying commitment to deliver an original idea every time. Bollywood is still learning and i am happy to see change. I firmly believe that by appreciating films like Ghajini, even though we all know that it has been inspired by Memento, will only encourage bollywood to learn from foreign films. The indian film industry is evolving and they must look upto the other film industries and learn.

Well said, I totally agree with you! Imitation is indeed an integral part of human development because it is in our nature to evolve (and by extension, improve). And only through imitation do we learn, master and finally surpass our personal best. Rather theoretical, but this is the process I see at work in Bollywood today. This change is long overdue, and kudos to artists like Aamir Khan for his recent contributions to the neo-Bollywood style.
