Tricky Dick was a crook and his hand-picked party crony let him off the hook and the American people will never fully see the depths of the Nixon malfeasance.
Ford's "pardon" confirmed Nixon's guilt. So the canard of receiving a fair trial, due process, meant nothing.

Other people have resigned official positions in exchange for the charges being dropped. Andrew Johnson pardoned treasonous acts by Confederate leaders in exchange for them never holding government offices on any level. Ford should have done the same here only he should have done that with everyone connected with Watergate. If he had done that, he probably would have won in '76. Instead we got Jimmy, THE WORST PRESIDENT IN MY LIFETIME, and then Ronnie, THE BEST PRESDIENT IN MY LIFETIME!

reagan was massive deficit debt spending....we are paying for reagan's debt and it is going to take some good old fashioned hard work....but reagan's mess of a debt will take a while to pay off.....thank goodness there are real conservatives like Ron Paul around who actually do believe in smaller government, and balancing budgets instead of reagan just talking about it and spend, spend, spend, spend

Whoever is using my screen name regarding "smoking pole" is being reported to You Tube. As for the remark about Reagan, Maxwest, just remember there is no Cold War, and we could not afford four more years of Jimmy. Jimmy Carter never met a dictatator he didn't like. As for deficit spending, Reagan built up a military that the Soviet Union could not afford, and it caused the collapse of the Soviet Union. The deficit was the result of a Democratic Congress that spent pork!

Some Presidents got excellent write ups for war : FDR, Truman in '45. Public opinion is anti-war, the elite is pro-war - they dont fight in it but profit as proviteers do. Richard Nixon is gone now and I am poorer for it. He was the real thing--a political monster straight out of Grendel and a very dangerous enemy. He could shake your hand and stab you in the back at the same time. He lied to his friends and betrayed the trust of his family. There you go again. Carter buried the morale of this country. Look at the voting electorate and the end result. Reagan was already financially well off. He didn't need politics. Politics needed him! Reagan was a little more aware than people give him credit for. If he wasn't, why did he trounce his opponent both times! Blame the overspending DEMOCRATIC Congress during Reagan's last two years and the first Bush's four. Look what happened when Clinton's '93 budget was decided by Gore. Congress 94!
