Sorry for delay - couldn't reply last nite as the thread was mysteriously blocked. I thought cosa nostra was on my case ! I'm not sure which songs bothered Frank in particular. Hazelwood was writing lyrics for Nancy which , in the late 60's , presented her as an in-heat nympho temptress. This view of his darling daughter did not win Daddy's approval. So as they say in London "he got de hump" and Lee split. I remember "Some Velvet Morning" was one of the offending songs.

I personally like Ville Valo and Natalia avelon version better.
Ville Valo has a better voice, and I enjoy them togehter better.
I am not saying that this is bad, for it is not. but the other version is better in my ears (aa)

personally i also find the version with ville valo and natalia better. ofcourse the recording is better, but still. Ville valo has the greatest voice of all and its because of him i like the new version better

Pretty sure the lyric says "Take off your silver spurs and help me pass some time", lol. It might just sound like that to you cause you're Irish. You know, words are pronounced differently with different dialects.

Thanks siccosaurus I'm relieved and happy that it's a positive. Love the joke - it's a Kerry one. Kerry people are the butt of a good deal of Irish humour. As in - " What do you do if a Kerry man throws a pin at you ?"

You in the states appear to see Arkansas people in the same light - if "Arkansas Traveler" as sung by Michelle Shocked is anything to go by. In the US Kerry people live in Arkansas ! Check out the jokes on the song - brilliant.

I like her voice much more compared to Natalias but I guess Ville Valo is more distinctiv than hazlewoods. though i normaly dont like valos music that much.
