its a shame the goverment wont do anything to change the laws. also remember the act of 95( or was it 93) when they banned "high capacity" magazines? a magizine's capacity is what it comes with, anything over that is "high capacity". the diffrence between five round cap and thirty round is just twelve more secconds that it takes to fire off those rounds. only part i agree with the current gun laws are the storage

I think it has to do more with the ease in which the person can carry an extra amount of ammunition in say a pocket -normal mags compared to say a banana clips-

Yeah but are you legally allowed to use them for self defense? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard that self defense in Canada is not considered a valid reason for owning a gun.

StapleGunKid, you're right. Self-defense is unfortunately not a legitimate reason for owning firearms in Canada unless you're the police. Thanks to reforms made by the former Liberal government it is now legally impossible to justify defending your home with firearms. At this point however, I am only concerned with keeping the one's I currently have for target practice. If the Liberals ever get back into power I could lose my Garand (if we use their definition of 'assult weapon') and 9mm pistol.
