Constantinoples is the proper name of the city. Besides Istabul is a greek name as well and it means, εις την πολιν, that is ''to the town' because when somebody wanted to go to Constantinoples used to say ''I'm going εις την Πολιν'' 'is tin polin', thus it became Istanbul, and it was named as such only in 1930. Seventy years is nothing next to the many centuries that Constantinoples was known with its proper name.
It won't be Turkish, God willing, for long. It belongs to Orthodoxy.

Konu cok basit, onlar ve baskalari da istediler Istanbul'u, ama Istanbul bizimdir. Gayet de normal karsiliyorum istedigini elde edemeyen insan toplulugunun yenilgiyi kabul etmeyisini!

yeeah no, thats like claiming that you really own cyprus, (which you really dont ;D) anyway, istanbul was originally called islambul meaning to find islam, but since it was akward to say, the name just kinda migrated into istanbul. its not greek. and btw is tin polin sounds nothing like istanbul.

but I think before Constatinople it was Byzantine (maybe Alexadria?)...and the this guy Constatine said 'hey I'm gonna rename this place Constatinople'...

It was Byzantium (capital of the Byzantine Empire, aka Eastern Roman Empire until they became Greek Orthodox.) then Constantinople, but yes, Constantine had the name changed when he took over.

when Turks occupied Minor Asia they were 150.000. In Minor Asia were 20.000.000 Greeks. It was iclamicized Greeks that conquered Constantinople. Rmemeber also the janissaries. Millions of Turks have Greek blood in their veins even today.
