Dead Humpback Whale on the Beach in Big Sur. Washed up on the beach at Andrew Molera State Park on June 23, 2006. California Condors have been feeding on a Gray whale that washed up a couple miles away and the Ventana Wildlife Society is hoping the condors will begin feeding on the Humpback whale.

The ministry of natural resources here in Canada take the corpses away from the highway to dispose of them where wildlife can still use them, keeps feeding animals from also being killed in the road and keeps our highways clean. i learned something in english class last yr. a possible reason for whales beaching themselves is because they communicate using i think its sonar..and our power stations use sonar power..and they follow the sonar and eventually get too close to shore and theres nothing they can do to get back.

That's the preferred explanation chica, it could also simply be that the whales are sick. Whales are pretty smart, if one realizes that it is ill it will usually remove itself from the pod so as not to infect the others, perhaps they don't always realize and the whole pod gets infected. I think that our oceans are changing, personally. Large and deep water sharks coming to shore, whales beaching themselves, infected plankton, coastal streams ceasing to exist, something is evolving.
