Thenks for the video.
Ah. The barrel guide sleeve and the booster cone on the MG3 were always a pain in the ass to clean.
Especially during the basic training, when we were not allowed to use anything other than oil and a metal brush. That way it took us hours to get it clean, because the residue was burned onto the metal and was hard like stone.

Thats an old model.... you dont have the newest barrels( polygon pipes ) and the bolt is old. You also missed to disassembly the bulletretractor... the " flashider " is old. + you miss a couple off springs... but good effort :)

the one thing they teach you in any military is the inside working of your weapon. You MUST know every millimeter of your weapon for cleaning purposes and other reasons. If you do not know thus, they will not stick the weapon in your hands until you do.

When you think ... ( 2 weeks ago by starlionblue)
When you think about it, the MG42 is a fantastic example of ingenious engineering and design. It has nowhere as many parts as I thought it would. I could memorize how to disassemble and put it together in less than a week. Is its replacement the MG3 simpler or more complex?

The Mg3 is close to ... ( 5 days ago by psum240b)
The Mg3 is close to the mg42 the differences are the caliber of the weapon the mg 42 is 7.92x57 or 8mm and the mg3 is 7.62x51 Nato or 308 and also the mg3 was re-enginered from an actual mg42 because the original plans had disappeared in the aftermath of the war. there are a few minor departures from the original design, and more modifications have been made in the light of service experience. The operation of the weapon remains unchanged.
Also the Mg3 can ... ( 5 days ago by psum240b)
Also the Mg3 can use the DM1 continous belt, the DM13 disintegrating link belt or the American M13 disintegrating link belt. and the mg3 can also accept a 100 round magazine case to the reciever which the mg 42 cannot. and a larger ejection port was created because of this. I found this info in military small arms of the 20th century 7th edition by ian v. hogg and john s weeks.

this says it all... ... ( 1 day ago by MatoVuc)
this says it all... german engineering was, is and will always be the best... this is just one example amongst many...
they have been building weapons, vehicles, etc. SIGNIFICANTLY less complex and more reliable than anyone else(mostly), and yet no matter the simpler designs their products 'outgun' every other competition out there with almost uncomparable prformance... what more is there that needs to be said?

Wonderfully informative video, don't know when exactly I'll need that information but I certainly hope I do someday and I'll be glad that I know it. 5 Stars
