theres 2001 the Kings win for straight 7 place team...2003 they get sweeped...2004 they get outplayed by Calgary...2006 they pathtically lose to Edmonton and 2007 they lose to Anahiem...when Calgary lost to Anahiem they took them to a game 7...this year i believe it should of been Colorado in and Calgary out.

In 2007 they kicked the crap out of Calgary and San Jose before losing to the ducks. And the ducks actally was a good team. Those two teams were the last two who send your flamers in a golf course. Oh and the ducks were a 6 seed when they did that.

as for "hitting", I'd say I would agree completely with you...last year. However, this year, they're finishing checks now, and they have quit the "dump and chase" game that ultimately killed them in the playoffs last year.

They don't need a roster of hall-of-famers... They didn't buy a bunch of HOFers. They picked 'em at the draft or early in their career and bred 'em to be champions. Yzerman, Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Holmstrom, Draper, Maltby, etc...
All of those players listed have been bred BY THE RED WINGS to be champions... Detroit has a knack for seeing talent before any other team...and then nurturing it into the team you've watched dominate for the past 17+ years

Warmoth - im NOT saying the redwings suck, they are a good team what i am saying is that i have watched some of their games and i can almost fall alseep from being bored. They sleepwalk through some of their games - again alot of these highlights are from the 1990's when they had a REAL RIVALRY with the Avalanche and other teams. (Those games were intense) now i fall asleep from some of the games, but with D Mcarty coming back and Downie on the team it may be better. PS - Warmoth guitars r cool

I can absolutely respect what you're saying. I'm biased, being that I'm a Wings fan...so every game they play is exciting for me...though I miss watching the 90's Wings very much. HOWEVER, I can definitely see what you're saying, just by watching NHL hockey collectively. I put ALL of the blame on Bettman, and not the Wings staff, for the Wings and the boring new NHL that we now see. I believe the Wings have gone the way of the Euros, because they can get it done, while playing by the new rules.

What a cliche thing to say. Truth be told, the Wings compete every night more than ANY other team in the league, and its because of their passion. But that is just this year, and hasn't been the case the last few years. Now they have a younger squad and a lot of guys that want a Cup that don't have one. Sure they're talented, but that doesn't mean they're ballerinas. As for the playoffs, every team that beats them goes to the cup or wins it. Coincidence?

zolafrog If the new NHL is so good why is the attendance down? almost nite their is empty seats at Joe Louis, sorry bro but this NEVER happened in the 1990's, NEVER! There was a segment on this on ESPN about a week ago and i was SHOCKED at how many empty seats there was. Its because people want to see skating/skill and YES hitting/passion and some ocassional rough stuff. Doesnt have 2 b a goon squad but SOME toughness btw why is 34 yr ol retiree" D MCarty so popular?
