But, doesn't Levon himself admit that Richard was wasted (he certainly looks it on the film), Rick was rather drunk, and Garth was 'tired'. It seems to me that the only two 'fully functioning' (off stage) members were Levon and Robbie: the latter walked out on the Band & Dylan and never got over losing the band leader role.

Something about the way Danko carries himself in the nonperformance scenes reminds me a bit of DeNiro in "Mean Streets" -- it's as if he's a real-life Scorsese character. And my God, what a voice. I'm actually right now listening to a My Morning Jacket cover of this song from Bonnaroo 2006.

You should all read "this wheels on fire" by Levon Helm. There was a lot of tension in the band when they were putting this concert together, at least between Robbie and Levon. You would never know it, this is the best concert movie ever made in my opinion. However, this being my favorite band, I may be biased.
