I was at Chuck's concert at the Tokyo Billboard Live last night. I had a table by the stage (yeah, the place was not your typical live house). When the time for the "Encore" came, I yelled out "Bustin' Loose". Chuck heard it. He looked straight at me and said in the mic "You feel like bustin' loose?" and I am like "Yeah!". And he started playing it. Thank you Chuck! God Bless you.

In addition to Chuck Brown here's a small list of musicians from the area: Duke Ellington, Marvin Gaye, Eva Cassidy, Henry Rollins, Tori Amos, Denyce Graves, Fugazi, Roberta Flack, John Phillip Sousa, Dave Grohl, Van McCoy (wrote the disco hit "The Hustle"), Patsy Cline, famous Atlantic Records founder and executive Ahmet Ertegun. Several others like Mary Chapin Carpenter got their start here.

No, actually she was just born in North Carolina. Her parents were living in Georgetown at the time but on a trip. She grew up primarily in Maryland and went to high school in the D.C. suburb of Rockville. Also, many of her first public performances were in bars in D.C. and Baltimore.
