With a proper bankroll and sound management of said bankroll + playing well, you shouldn't go broke. But that's if you're at least a serious amateur who happens to have enough loot to get started.
I would guess that most people who gamble do so for fun, not to make a living. Let's say someone deposits $50 at a site and plays on that for a few months. Win or lose, they got good entertainment value.
As for pros, BR management is something they have to master to remain pros.

Absolutely... However luck does play a big part unfortunately and that's how a few TV pros we know lost a serious chunk, enough for them to think about quitting. You can be fucking great but now you see 5,000-10,000+ blinds cash games and losing with full house/quads, just huge hands like that on lose streaks is just wow. One thing is interesting now is that a lot of pros are 'missing in action'. did all these pros go on big vacations at once? Or is there underground gambling going down?

Ummm, pros kept winning and making final tables at the WSOP this year, so I wouldn't count them out just yet.
If I had to guess about players who lose huge chunks, I'd say it's not all poker. At least two have lost huge chunks of money to drugs. Still not worried about Daniel but he did go through a divorce and I imagine his ex got paid. Then there's the fact that many really are gamblers. Not just poker players but gamblers through and through.

Again, speculating, but I know when I play online I give myself just two rebuys. Three strikes and I'm out. I added it to Chris Ferguson's rules for BR management, it keeps me from Martingale Syndrome. I wonder how many pros start to Martingale when losing...

OH MAN LOOK AT THOSE ATHLETES GO!!! poker isnt a sport it never will be. very nice form while reaching for the chips, it probably takes YEARS of practice to be able to reach for those chips so consistently without knocking them over. im awesome at basketball i bet i could beat any of these guys so easily in some poker.

Antonio had AQ in the big blind and gus and daniel were in early position meaning antonio is first to act and gus and daniel are last respectively after the flop, turn, and river thus making him out of position.
