Even chernobyl is a relatively nice place to visit today. It is a rather beauty wildlife reserve. Just don't drink the water or eat the food. And ignore the mutant plants/fish/insects.

BRUSSELS, Jan 25 (Reuters) - A committee of 50 nations hastily set up by NATO two weeks ago has found no evidence so far to support claims that depleted uranium (DU) munitions can cause cancer, NATO says.
Soldiers who served as peacekeepers in the NATO-led missions in Bosnia and Kosovo--where US aircraft fired some 40,000 DU shells--were no sicker than those who had not.
The tests for Depleted Uranium cost about $800. 100mg of hair is required. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) and the second is instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) test for Uranium 238 & 235. When I get the money I will test myself.

Depleted Uranium has had all the radioactive isotopes REMOVED for use in nuclear reactors and atomic-bomb stockpiles. DU= non-radioactive
If you don't know what isotopes are, then your are an idiot who should have paid attention in school.
Depleted Uranium is no more carcinogenic than the benzene that is added to EVERY TYPE OF FUEL! Overall, it is less deadly than second hand smoke.
