STORY:
J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series that has stolen the hearts of so many readers...and moviegoers...arrives to testify in New York federal court.
The British writer takes the stand in a lawsuit she - and entertainment giant Warner Brothers - have filed against one of the boy wizard's most loyal fans.
At issue: whether Steve Vander Ark, should be allowed to publish a 400-page reference book called "The Harry Potter Lexicon."
She says the proposed encyclopedia violates copyright laws.
[J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter Author]:
"There are lots of books in many languages that comment on, or criticize, Harry Potter and I'm delighted about that. But the book in this case is different. It provides no analyses and virtually no commentary. It takes far too much and it gives far too little."
A lawyer for the publisher argues the lexicon would actually help the Harry Potter series.
But Rowling told the judge, due to the stress of dealing with the case she hasn't been able to write.
