Performed by Owen Johnston / "Cyriades" (gray shirt) and "Grimslade" (black shirt), part of the Mizuumi ryu Karate Development Team. The technical conditioning drills performed in this video are variations of the "Party" segment of Nekoashi no Michi, one of the two drills specific to Mizuumi ryu Karate. The point of the drill is not to start as an all out fight, but developing the proper focus, and fighting / self defense skills against a resisting opponent. As such, medium contact is used at first, and hard / full contact after gaining sufficient fighting ability.
Mizuumi ryu Karate is a new martial arts style that centers around realistic training, and fast, cat like, unpredictable movement. The primary influences are Heiwado Karate (the style of JIKC / Japan International Karate Center), Western Sport Boxing, and Brazilian Jiujitsu. There are other secondary influences from other forms of karate and jiujitsu. The two Mizuumi ryu Karate specific drills include Nekoashi no Michi ("Method of the Cat Foot") and Nekoashi Kata ("Cat Foot Form").
