What a beautiful strokemaker. And while he's not the same force today - the feet don't move so quick and the eye isn't quite as sharp - it's amazing to think he's still making runs 11 years on. I'd disagree with the poster that submits that Ponting is the better player: Tendulkar is the more complete player IMO, being a better player of spin., and having had to face better bowling throughout his career.

Ponting has never faced dangerous bowling attacks. Tendulkar has:Wakar and Wasim Ambrose and Bishop Hughes,McDermott,Warne,McGrath Allan Donald,Devilliers Faced them in his prime,and did well.Ponting,like most AUstralian batsman today have high averages because they face weak bowling attacks

well said i share the same opinion. Infact Matty Hayden was once humiliated in south africa by donald, pollack and de villiers and was banished to wilderness for 5 years before he made another appearance. The true blue blood batsmen that i have seen from australia are the waugh brothers, Border, Boon and Taylor. Worse Ponting cant even play swing bowling of a 19 year old playing his 4th test. People say he is the best batsman in world.

Those batsmen you mentioned-Border,Boon,Waughs,Taylor...they were champion batsmen and deserve to be remembered among greats of world cricket.Hayden,ponting,Hussey ect are heavily overrated.When facing good bowlers-most of time they fail.Exception to this is possibly Gilchrist,oh,what a batsman!
