Jimmie Giles was a bitch, but one time Doug Plank almost tore his head off. Singletary played poorly in this game - he dicked around on a hold out and got to camp late.

yah true, but the bears shut out their first two opponents in the playoffs and then only gave up 10 to the patriots. They shut them out! that means zero points.

Geeze, how long did Steve Deberg stay in the NFL? I remembered he started for San Francisco in Montana's rookie year, and was a backup when Atlanta went to the Super Bowl in '99.

He was a TOUGH old sonafabitch! If he played til 1999, he must have been either 43 or 44, because he started the NFL in 1977, with San Fran, which I believe is two years prior to Montana. I also think he mentored Steve Young, who later became a sensation in San Fran following Montana's retirement.

Yeah, DeBerg WAS a tough bird. As quiet as it's kept, for a long time he was the ONLY Bucs QB to have thrown more TDs than picks in his tenure there. Not even Doug Williams could say that. He was a hard luck QB. Almost everywhere he went, there was future superstar-QB-in-waiting on the same roster: Montana, Elway, Young, etc. Like MOST Bucs QBs before Dungy, though, he left Tampa and had his best days elsewhere...specifically in Kansas City.

DeBerg was actually ... ( 1 month ago by SuperBowlExpert)
DeBerg was actually drafted by Dallas in 1977, but never got to play a down for the Cowboys. He played for San Francisco from 1978-1980, then Denver 1981-1983, then Tampa Bay 1984-1987, then Kansas City 1988-1991, then back with Tampa Bay in 1992, split the 1993 season with Tampa Bay and Miami, retired, and then one final season with Atlanta in 1998. DeBerg was on the Falcons' Super Bowl roster that year, so when he retired for good, he was 44.

Steve DeBerg was like the Brian Griese of his time. He help the team by he also hurts you by throwing INT's. One time he got busted for DUI while he was an arena football coach for the Indiana Firebirds. He has two sons and one of them is a QB in high school.
