They do not use any needle in these shots. They are injected by air pressure. The innoculent is pressure forced into the skin, been there, done that. Former USN Corpsman.

I shot it about 25 years ago. It wasn't scripted but the opportunity presented itself to get lots of coverage. It wasn't until we were editing the 16mm footage that the idea occurred to cut the material to the music.
