Isnt this issue the same when it comes to voting for the president?
If I am not mistaken, the votes of the 538 members of the electoral college basically determine who the president for USA is going to be.

Are you mentally stable, davis? At the very least, you have no perspective: sure the superdelagate system is dumb. Not because it's a "sham", but because superdelagates have a very strong incentive to vote with their constituents, since they're almost all elected officials, who want to stay that way. So the superdelagate system isn't very effective at making sure a nut-job is nominated, which is supposedly why it was invented. It's simply not that big of a deal.
