Bowie is extremely talented... but like most artists, his understanding of reality is limited. He exhibits typical liberal ignorance and naivete. But I don't hold it against him. History clearly demonstrates that artistic genius and rational, analytical thinking are for the most part wholly incompatible.
Having said that, I would LOVE to get my hands (and other body parts) on that sexy fine bald bass player!!!

The "lady" guitar player is Gail Dorsey and she is truly special. She does great vocals, too. You should search "Under Pressure" to hear her do her stuff. I was at a few Bowie concerts and they truly were amazing experiences. I've "grown up" with Bowie, so to speak, and he is a bit of a legend. It's nice to hear a new generation appreciating his talent.

I've been thinking of your reply and why Bowie seems to "disappear." I think he occasionally takes time to sit back and listen. I found some amazing stuff that he has done recently with Arcade Fire (a band I truly respect) and I think he takes some "time out" out to collaborate, to write, to learn, etc. He's toured with Moby, he promoted Sonic Youth, he tried to get Tin machine off the ground, etc. Then there's his art... I truly wish that I could have a ten minute conversation with him.
