Prof. Tom Burton, the author of "Serpent Handling Believers", says "If you were there when they were not taking up serpents, or even during other parts of a service where they did, it would be like many other Pentecostal groups"...... "There is singing, preaching, laying on of hands, praying, testifying, and that sort of thing. It's kind of an expressive church service where people freely share emotions, a very participatory service like most Pentecostal services."

I am Apostolic (UPC) and I have an aunt who attends an independent Apostolic Church in WVA that does handle snakes and drink poison. I'm like you I'm not gonna tempt God but if they have the faith to pick up a rattler and shout with it..go right ahead

Yes, people keep saying that, but I wonder how true it is. Most likely, the leaders like to make the numbers look good (thus making THEM look good), so they "count" very generously, tweak the numbers here and there. A whole lot of "evangelistically speaking"! The churches I know about are shrinking. Some are closing. The ranks of EX-pentecostals are growing.
As the fraud is exposed more and more, it will fall. It can't stand daylight.

I can't speak for the rest of the US but here in Ohio it is very true that they are growing in leaps and bounds because I've seen it. I'm third generation Pentecostal, the son of a pastor, and I visit many churches here in SW Ohio and see the growth with my own eyes. Now, pulling out a rattler or two might bring attendance down but I believe that people have the right to worship God in their own way. Just as long as they aren't letting kids do it. If you can, go visit their services, I did
