bad day for the U S A
Pearl Harbor
On Sunday, December 7th, 1941 the Japanese launched a surprise attack against the U.S. Forces stationed at Pearl Harbor , Hawaii . By planning his attack on a Sunday, the Japanese commander Admiral Nagumo, hoped to catch the entire fleet in port. As luck would have it, the Aircraft Carriers and one of the Battleships were not in port. (The USS Enterprise was returning from Wake Island, where it had just delivered some aircraft. The USS Lexington was ferrying aircraft to Midway, and the USS Saratoga and USS Colorado were undergoing repairs in the United States.)
In spite of the latest intelligence reports about the missing aircraft carriers (his most important targets), Admiral Nagumo decided to continue the attack with his force of six carriers and 423 aircraft. At a range of 230 miles north of Oahu, he launched the first wave of a two-wave attack. Beginning at 0600 hours his first wave consisted of 183 fighters and torpedo bombers which struck at the fleet in Pearl Harbor and the airfields in Hickam, Kaneohe and Ewa. The second strike, launched at 0715 hours, consisted of 167 aircraft, which again struck at the same targets.
At 0753 hours the first wave consisting of 40 Nakajima B5N2 "Kate" torpedo bombers, 51 Aichi D3A1 "Val" dive bombers, 50 high altitude bombers and 43 Zeros struck airfields and Pearl Harbor Within the next hour, the second wave arrived and continued the attack.

Bob, Admiral Nagumo ... ( 7 months ago by AsianAmerican68)
Bob, Admiral Nagumo did NOT plan anything.
He was merely "following orders".
Admiral Yamamoto planned and ordered the execution of the Pearl Harbor Attack at the direct command of Emperor Hirohito.
And "luck" had nothing to do with why the US CARRIERS "were not there".
I suggest you look at what was finally declassified in 1994 by the US Government and made available via FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) here...

As a matter of fact, a THIRD ATTACK WAVE was also supposed to be launched after reloading and refueling First Wave, but it was only AFTER First Wave had returned and reported "NO CARRIERS", that Admiral Nagumo CHICKEN'ed OUT, fearing US Carriers were nearby and a threat to IJN Carriers, decided to CANCEL THIRD WAVE, TURN TAIL, and HEAD BACK TO JAPAN.
A FATAL MISTAKE, because THIRD WAVE was supposed to destroy FUEL TANK FARMS for US NAVY, crippling US Navy Ops for at least 8 months to a YEAR!

Had THIRD ATTACK WAVE launched and done it's job, Japan could have easily taken Hawaii, followed by West Coast of US.
THAT would have really put Japan "ON THE MAP"!!
With West Coast of US in Japanese Military Control, things would have been entirely different.
We would all be speaking Japanese today... lol!!

"Radio Magazine", May 1941.
A little magazine popular during 1930's and 40's, geared for radio hobbiest. Back then, radio was new, and millions of people enjoyed building their own radios from parts or kits.
This issue shows how to listen to the IJN Japanese Coded Transmissions at home. It teaches you how to understand the codes, and it even shows you how to BREAK the Japanese Navy Codes at home.

germany had internment camps, the japs rarely ever took POWs, and the ones they did went through all kinds of hell, torture, starvation, diesease, unbearable camp conditions, unbearable work conditions, average number of allied POWs dieing in axis camps was over 200 a day, while less than 50 axis POWs died a day on average, and that was mostly from diesease or some other stuff

Best thing that ... ( 5 months ago by wilburhog)
Best thing that ever happened to Hawaii was becoming state of U.S.A. Where would they be without that, they rowed canoes , ate only fish and coconuts and didn't have welfare or health care. Hawaians had no electricity or even the idea of what a flush toilet was until the americans landed and advanced their civilization with modern amenities. The Hawaiians owe America a debt of gratitude for all we done for them by agreeing to accept them into the union as a new state in late 1950s.

yea, because allied troops werent fanactical, they were fighting for the survival of their countries and loved ones, axis werent, they were fighting because they were fanactical, allied troops wanted to live too see their loved ones again, see their hometowns again, axis troops didnt care ahout that, germans believed they needed more living space, japs believed that whatever their emperor wanted was the "correct thing to do", allied troops knew the difference, axis didnt, that simple

Uhm,the Emperor took a little role. The Zaibatsu and the militarist wing "around",the Emperor had the bigger fault.
But the Emperor never wanted or never be able to stop the war.He was an ambiguous figure.

but jap troops were ill informed, they thought everything coming from tojo was from the emperor too, alright, we can cont arguing over a vid that demonstrates a bad day for the USA, perhaps the worst behind 9/11, jap troops were fanactical, many germans were too, few allied troops were except russians
