Dan Osman was a great climber, what he was doing was awesome but here in Poland we a have better free solo climber, his name is 'WOJTEK KURTYKA' he did 7c+ (the route is called 'Chiński Maharadża')without a rope, although we have harder routes that were done without any rope, this route is the biggest and most shocking event that took place more than 10 years ago, people still can't believe that this particular route that I am talking about, was free soloed.

Are you kidding me? Of course I can't do this - there's about 50 people in the world that can. That guy was an idiot that was looking for ways to die. Glad to hear that his daughter enjoys growing up without dad. At least he taught her some good values right? Didn't take chances? Did you watch the video? What happens if some rock flakes off? Go try it yourself tough guy; the world will be a better place when you fail halfway up.

He was not an idiot. i am sure Emma loves Living, the same way her dad did. I learnt more with Dan then with anyone else in my life, i'm sure she did too. Driving in some countries is more hazardous then these calculated jumps. Looking for was to die? how can you jugde? You have no idea what Dan went through in life.

Actually, Dan O's deathad nothing to do with climbing. He died due to the fact that he did a stunt that where he had to rely on gear to arrest his fall-the gear and the rig failed. The solo he does in this video is well within his capabilites as you can see. I dont think he is in danger in this vide at all. Listen to what he says in the interview-soloing is serious and you better KNOW that you have it in hand. Which he does.

that is complete rubbish, i totally agree that the climb is well with his grade boundaries but no matter how easy or how hard u climb there there is still risk, especially when soloing. He does not have to make an error to die there could be a loose hold. There is no risk free form of climbing.

I use to solo. Past tense. I fell! I only fell 20+ feet, but I broke my left heel and sprained my right foot BIG Time! The right foot still hurts after many months. The route is one I have soloed a lot and was a 5.11. I solo much harder lines with ease, or I use to. Everyone ahs to decide whether to solo or not. It is a VERY personal choice. If you solo, don't let your guard down for one moment. You could end up not being able to climb!

Stright up this guy was a jackass and a loser. He's got no more guts than a guy that puts a gun to his head. Yes his kids will grow up without a dad. At least he died soon enough to have too many. I'm sure his wife respects his "courage". THis isn't climbing - this is being an *hole. I'm sorry someone had to peel his carcass off the rock. SHould have left it for the vultures as a warning to the other braindead refuse.

Ok m8, dunno what sort of axe you have to grind but you're out of line. Whether you like it or not, experience or none climbing at any level can be/is a massive risk to your safety no matter what sort of protection you use. I dunno who you're trying to convince but I take my hat off to people like Dan for toying with what's possible. If people like you had your say everything would be risk assessed and there'd have never been a moon landing or any form of human frontier. Small minded child!
