I've studied MH for about 10 yrs and agree w type3 - the turnaround isn't amazing if you don't know what it is. It does look "odd". Its great there are different versions available on YT. Michael is more calm and focused in this show than other times. In other shows you can see his mind is all over the place as he plays - the guy WAS brilliant. In this one he seems very centered and balanced and it shows in his playing. It really sucked that he died so soon after this show.

I just love the extra lick he throws in at 2:14. This guy is just so bad ass. Have been listening to him for many years now but never did see him in concert. Thanks to type3 for posting these.. always knew he had amazing technique but never got to see it till now. He has true staying power and will certainly be remembered for generations to come. Have you seen all these classically trained guys trying to play this song?! Says a lot.

Michael was also classically trained. Undergrad in Music Performance and Music Ed from Univ of Oklahoma, and his Masters in Composition from Peabody Inst, and he studied with Aaron Shearer there.
I love that extra raga-lick at 2:14, too!

Truly one of his best tunes and very inspirational. I love the way he changes nonchalantly changes time signatures for the coda. RIP Michael.

when someone undergoes chemotherapy their hair typically doesn't grow back so quickly. Besides their is a video of him playing aerial boundaries a little while after this and he has a full head of hair. And besides Michael has never had cancer, although I do believe that his father died of cancer.

I was fortunate enough to hear Michael play live on seven different occasions, and once to even personally request that he play this piece at the Rosebud (now defunct) during an intermission in Pittsburgh, PA.0 I can truly say that he was not only an all-time master of guitar composition and technique, who loved what he was doing, but that he also loved to relate to the audience, and had a sort of magical connection to them that very few players can claim. live performances someday.
