There is nothing that will counteract my argument above because I have taken courses taught by professors who were active participants during the Hip Hop era and met guest speakers who were acclaimed during its state of existence.
Do not attempt comparisons.
Same with Classical music, It comes from within. aside from the developing musical theory, the practice, etc. If one could not feel it from within there would be no point. And that is true for ALL genres of music.
And i cant attempt whatever the hell i want, stop your BS. you can speak to all the professors you want and all the the guest speakers you want, doesn't mean you are going to actually know or even merely attempt to understand Hip Hop.
I have taken music courses besides the study of Hip Hop. I have performed in several music organizations including professional coagulates throughout my existence with various instruments including vocal.
I am not trying to be condescending. There are personal influences in everything. It's a given, or else it wouldn't be art. However, one cannot base a genre(s) on samples of other artists' works, that's why the Hip Hop died so quickly.
But like I said earlier, Hip Hop is a culture more than a category of music. There is artwork, dance, literature. If you did the same for Classical, than you would dramatically broaden the time frame and location.
Love and Peace around the world. Share the happiness!
