Agnetha Faltskog - A Fool Am I

Video Description:
Cheltenham is the centre of National Hunt Horse Racing in Britain. The National Hunt season starts in September and is geared towards horses qualifying for the 4 day Cheltenham Festival in March, where the Champions of the various events are decided. The blue riband race is the world famous Cheltenham Gold Cup, which decides the best jumping racehorse every year. The prize money for the race is around £500,000. The race is over 3 miles and 2.5 furlongs, with 22 fences to jump.
The Festival attracts around 250,000 visitors over the 4 days. Many of these are Irish punters making their annual pilgrimage. They bring a very lively atmosphere to the town centre pubs in the evenings! Across the country, around £500 million is wagered on the 25 races.
A famous recent Gold Cup winner is Best Mate, who won the event for 3 years in succession from 2002-4. Here is my son David standing next to the statue erected in honour of Best Mate at the racecourse.
Huge sums of money are won and lost by punters every year. The biggest gambler is Irish racehorse owner and multi-millionaire J.P.McManus, who often bets £1 million.
2008 Result: 1st Denman 9/4, 2nd Kauto Star 10/11F (defending champion), 3rd Neptune Collonges 25/1.
The first 3 were all trained by champion trainer Paul Nicholls, a great achievement!
This picture and subject seemed most appropriate to go with this song from Agnetha's comeback album My Colouring Book (2004). The song A Fool Am I (Dimmelo Parlame) was originally recorded by Cilla Black in November 1966 and reached No.13 in the UK charts. Agnetha's comments on this song are: "There are two Cilla Black songs, this and the single (If I Thought You'd Ever Change Your Mind). There are very special arrangements on her songs, a little like the Beatles since George Martin produced her. I got stuck on this one because it's so explosive and dramatic."
Music: F. Carraresi
Lyrics: A. Testa, English lyrics: Peter Callander
This time your story had better be good,
Or I may leave you like I know I should,
You say you've missed me while you've been away,
Where'd you go? and who with - that's what I'd like to know,
You have the nerve to run off like you do,
You don't deserve all the love I give you
Fool am I! What a poor little fool am I!
Oh why can't I be strong enough,
Long enough to say that we're through,
Fool am I! Just a poor little fool am I
But I can't get it understood, you're no good
What can I do? I can't stop loving you
Tell me you love me - take me and show me,
Make me forgive you again
(Instrumental)
Fool am I! What a poor little fool am I!
But I can't get it understood, you're no good
What can I do? I can't stop loving you
Oh, tell me - you love me
Take me and show me, make me forgive you again
Fool am I! What a poor little fool am I!
Oh why can't I be strong enough,
Long enough to say that we're through,
Fool am I! Just a poor little fool am I!
But I can't get it understood,
You're no good, what can I do?
