Yes and just personally I find it ludicrous to say that is not why she's singing `alto' now. I have been her # 1 fan for 40 years but let's face facts - the pipes are shot and have been for awhile. Doesn't diminish her towering greatness one iota, but there comes a time to face facts....

I'm also a massive fan over more than 30 years and I'm always slightly uncomfortable about the fact that she was an artist who was amazingly great for the first 10 years of her career then "experimented" rather than sing what her audience liked and became (in my opinion) rather lost and weaker musically
Joni maintains she withdrew out of her hatred of the music industry but my guess is she would have gone on making records if the industry had been able to sell them
