The performance is good but the recording is not. The orchestra hardly sounds. I remember Byron Janis fantastic version in Buenos Aires when he was 17 yrs old!

Are we going to get the second and third movements to this? The secoud movement is especially beautiful.

Any performance of this gorgeous, yet wayward work is worthy of Youtubing. Rachmaninov, who was still around at the time must have felt cheated, that the best tunes went to Mr Gershwin.
Well done Mr Pianist, it sounds pretty funky to me.

That's my friend playing for a big event we have each year at SFASU. He was timed, and had to play everything from memory. If I remember correctly, he actually was running a fever when he played this piece. I remember running to the store to get meds for him. The acoustics suck in this hall because it's the smallest hall at SFA.

Pas mouvais de tout, mais j'ai éspairé une meilleure piece...
Not bad at all, but I had expected a better piece, a more "classical" piece

I agree... Gershwin was all about breaking the rules and feeling the music... great pianist, but just played with no feeling or sense of musicality

Interesting performance.
Chris, you play really well. You have a nice technique.
A few things though:
-I don't remember and I know(I played the whole concerto myself) that the first movement doesn't have so many tempo changes
-You need to have more eye contact with the orchestra and the conductor
it's flashy to ... ( 10 months ago by ihowell83)
it's flashy to watch, but not that difficult to play; the third movement is much more challenging

Quel dommage que je ne puisse décidément pas et définitivement pas jouer ce concerto, trop complexe, surtout le troisième mouvement! En tout cas, quel moment de pur bonheur!
