This seems to cause confusion amongst many fans. The fact is when you're "killed" in a Final Fantasy game you're just knocked out. That's why the status abnormality effect is called KO. The game is over if all characters are KO'd cause if everyone's unconscious, no one can revive everyone else, can they? When Sephiroth stabbed Aerith, she was full-out killed, so a Phoenix Down would be ineffective. I'm not trying to be bratty by saying this, it's just not many people seem to realize this fact.
