If you use a sharp blade (changing your blades every 3-5 shaves) and follow the right procedures, you can wet shave every day!
I'm sure this videomaker has some instruction videos on that but here are the basics: warm your face with water, apply shaving cream with a brush (lather), shave (one pass only!) with the grain, re-lather en shave again. re-lather en shave against the grain, apply shaving balm and afterward apply moisturizer.

Every day. Infact, DE razors are said to be better for black skin than disposables because DE is less likely to give shave bumps.

Yes, I wanted to just spend x dollars up front to get good quality products rather than having to go through the expenses again. I had shaved 3 times thus far and it was well worth the investment

Interesting, most shavegeeks find that the gain in performance with a silvertip over a $60 super badger isn't much. Then again, you now have a really high quality beautiful brush that you like. So congrats. :]

I bought my silvertip badger brush at Trufitt & Hill. It cost around $150 dollars with taxes. They had even more high end brushes in the $300 dollars range, but I thought mine was good enough. I expect the brush to last a very long time. One thing I have found with traditional wetshaving is that I get a much closer shave and I have no ingrown hairs anymore. Its a win win situation...

Very nice! That's actually a pretty good price for a silvertip, I've seen them run easily twice as high. You're right though, when you consider how long it will last, the price isn't that much. Quality products in the end are cheaper than buying several cheap versions. :]

Hey mark, at the 0:52 sec mark, where you are showing the proraso shave cream, and razor, what are those other products present in the frame? I made one of the bottles out to say "Lavender Witch Hazel". What do you use witch hazel for pertaining to shaving? And what were the other products and what were they used for?

Lars1540- In front of the Proraso is a sample vial of a cologne (I don't recall which one) and a limited edition shaving brush by Shavemac. The razor is a Merkur Progress. Behind the Progress is indeed witch hazel (Thayers), "DaVinci Water" (a hydrosol from QEDUSA), and Trumper's "Skin Food" (limes scent). I use witch hazel as a final cleanup of my skin before applying aftershave balm (or in this case Skin Food). I'm working on a video about aftershaves that will explain further.

walkerdav2003- You can absolutely wetshave every day. With proper preparation and technique (much like claest007 describes below), you can easily avoid shave bumps. Also, in your case fewer blades is better than more blades! Try a single blade safety razor or a two blade sensor.

very nice videos. I'm wondering do these same principals apply to shaving the head. I used to shave everyday in college but it became such a chore. now I look like a balding hippie. My biggest concern is would you happen to know if the products work on course hair. basically i'm a black guy. would like a clean shave but the razor bumps are a killer. currently use clippers when I get around to it. talk about a drag.

I accidentally deleted rahulsarathy82's comment: "now a days it is difficult to find DE razors and badger brush products, but if even if u get one of these in net, you may never know how long these products especially DE blades will survive in the market for the upcoming 10 years or so .Don't u think that big companies like that 3 or 4 blade razors will replace DE razor products completely in another 1o to 15 years are so ?" Personally I think there will always be a niche market.

Hey Mantic
Thanks for posting this video
I used to use a Philips Norelco shaver. It was great and all....really fast but I didn't like the 5pm shadow showing up at 1pm! Wetshaving is the way to go.

Hi Mantic,
I bought the Crabtree & Evelyn shave cream but I can't seem to produce the same quality of lather that you seem to make in all of your videos. Is there some kind of trick with creams? I have used Proraso shave soap with moderate success.

Another thing that affects lather quality is water hardness. For harder water you will need mush more soap or cream. Load the brush with just a bit more cream, about the size of an almond, and start to lather. The brush should be damp, but NOT WET. You can always add water, but it;s very hard to remove water. Try it out, and good luck!
