Eric Andersen performs Thirsty Boots at Phil Ochs Memorial
Uploaded by: Fulci06
Video Description:
On May 28, 1976, at the Felt Forum in New York City, a memorial concert was held in honor of Phil Ochs who had committed suicide on April 9, 1976. Eric Andersen performs his classic song Thirsty Boots with great poignancy, it is quite touching. Other performers at the Memorial Concert included Pat Sky, Dave Van Ronk, Melanie, Bob Gibson, Jim Glover, Oscar Brand,Tim Hardin, and Peter Seeger. The concert was five and a half hours long but only 90 minutes was shown on public television in 1977.
As I watched and listened to the various performances, I couldn't help but feel a sadness, not only for Phil Ochs, but due to the loving tributes from these performers who truly played their hearts out. The musicians were truly sincere in their respect and admiration for Ochs. What a difference from the superficiality of most tributes for musicians today!
