If there's a long, ugly history behind it, people sure are ignoring it judging by the comments and taking it at face value: its a funny cartoon that a lot of us grew up with. Period. Any implied racism is mostly dismissed by today's audience. And isn't that a good thing?

You are doing the exact same thing as the cartoon is, how are you doing anything different? Everyone's history isn't perfect. But you leaving that comment is assuming that everyone in America belonged to the KKK. You should be slapped.
I thought it was interesting to watch Warner Bros. History and this must have just come out before Elmar Fudd. The log moving is also another classic WB. Though I didn't get that part where blacks were cannibals, that was an interesting twist.

I don`t see this as a racist cartoon. It`s just what comic-cartoons are: things are drawn exaggerated, in a funny way.
Other nationalities are satirized all the time: Japanese, always taking photos, Chinese not able to pronounce R, French people with baguette......there will always be stereotypes which are not meant to be racist.
Many Simpsons episodes must be censored, if this cartoon is racist.

Yes, certainly an inaccurate portrayal of subsaharan Africans. By all means, they should show how things really are in Africa -centuries of mass killings and warfare over ethnicity, religion and tribal affiliation. Ignorance, superstition, political corruption. Spears, ok. Doorknobs on milled doors? Ludicrous - utterly outside the technological capabilities of subsaharan black Africans of this era. Oh and let's not forget to show them selling their neighbors to European slavers back when.

AWESOME! I love how the salesman chooses being eaten by cannibals over marrying that old lady. These cartoons need to finally be released on home video by Warner Bros. in high quality. Not only are they funny, but they're a great history lesson. They show the point of views of the racist cartoonists and studio executives from way-back-when.

I could see how this could been seen as racist but it's animation history. Censoring this is wrong either way. The so called "censored 11" should be shown on adult swim or something.
