Please, man, you can't honestly say that anyone in the NFL is not an extraordinary athlete. Most starting NFL linebackers could destroy any of the athletes featured in this video.
Also, you don't need to compensate for rugby by insulting gridiron. Gridiron is not traditionally a sport of extended endurance. It is a sport of brief, but extreme, intensity. The game is actually four quarters of 15 minutes, every second of which requires each player to run and hit as hard as he possibly can.

I really don't understand the argument that padding is pampering. Protecting the players from concussions and spine trauma doesn't make the sport any less manly, it just helps to make it slightly less retarded.
And while I might not be familiar with the "rugby elite", somebody like Ray Lewis would tear apart any of the rugby players I've ever seen.

I like to see you play it. NFL is a different game... In rugby you don't get a rest every 10 seconds. They hit just as hard as the NFL players continuously for 40 minute halves and without 50 pounds of armour!

Look I've played both football and rugby, and they are both awesome games. But it is a fact that the NFL was created because the U.S. government thought rugby was too dangerous, that is why they added the pads and the other rules. In fact A guy named Jonah Lomu, 6'3, 350 pounds, and was in a running position was almost recruited by the Dallas Cowboys as a fullback. Also i've been more tired after a game of rugby than i have a game of football. But they are both great games as i said.

Grow up people. Neither sport is about the hits. In nfl, you hit the guy, ball drops, anoter down. doesnt matter how hard you hit. same in rugby, you put a guy on the floor, its a ruck. the sports are about the tactics involved which vary geatly in the different sports. If u want big hits from a sport, watch ufc
